Mazmur 19:9

19:9 The commands to fear the Lord are right ¹ 

and endure forever. ² 

The judgments given by the Lord are trustworthy

and absolutely just. ³ 

Mazmur 33:18-19

33:18 Look, the Lord takes notice of his loyal followers, ⁴ 

those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness ⁵ 

33:19 by saving their lives from death ⁶ 

and sustaining them during times of famine. ⁷ 

Mazmur 34:9-11

34:9 Remain loyal to ⁸  the Lord, you chosen people of his, ⁹ 

for his loyal followers ¹⁰  lack nothing!

34:10 Even young lions sometimes lack food and are hungry,

but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

34:11 Come children! Listen to me!

I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord. ¹¹ 

Mazmur 85:9

85:9 Certainly his loyal followers will soon experience his deliverance; ¹² 

then his splendor will again appear in our land. ¹³ 

Mazmur 103:17

103:17 But the Lord continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers, ¹⁴ 

and is faithful to their descendants, ¹⁵ 

Mazmur 145:18-20

145:18 The Lord is near all who cry out to him,

all who cry out to him sincerely. ¹⁶ 

145:19 He satisfies the desire ¹⁷  of his loyal followers; ¹⁸ 

he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

145:20 The Lord protects those who love him,

but he destroys all the wicked.

[19:9]  ¹ tn Heb “the fear of the Lord is clean.” The phrase “fear of the Lord” probably refers here to the law, which teaches one how to demonstrate proper reverence for the Lord. See Ps 111:10 for another possible use of the phrase in this sense.

[19:9]  ² tn Heb “[it] stands permanently.”

[19:9]  ³ sn Trustworthy and absolutely just. The Lord’s commands accurately reflect God’s moral will for his people and are an expression of his just character.

[33:18]  ⁴ tn Heb “look, the eye of the Lord [is] toward the ones who fear him.” The expression “the eye…[is] toward” here indicates recognition and the bestowing of favor. See Ps 34:15. The one who fears the Lord respects his sovereignty and obeys his commandments. See Ps 128:1; Prov 14:2.

[85:9]  ¹³ tn Heb “to dwell, glory, in our land.” “Glory” is the subject of the infinitive. The infinitive with -לְ (lÿ), “to dwell,” probably indicates result here (“then”). When God delivers his people and renews his relationship with them, he will once more reveal his royal splendor in the land.

[103:17]  ¹⁴ tn Heb “but the loyal love of the Lord [is] from everlasting to everlasting over those who fear him.”
